Commander McIntyre was a former U.S. Navy flying ace in World War II and the Korean War. He held distictions that included the Silver Star, two distinguished Flying Crosses, and four Air Medals. He was a former three-sport star athlete for LaSalle Academy, and later an All-America football player at Notre Dame. A succcessful Rhode Island businessman, he coached football at Brown, and for the Providence Steamrollers. He ia a member of the LaSalle Academy Hall of Fame.
