Sister Mary Bernard served the community as a dedicated religious educator and Mercy missionary for over sixty years. She continued at St. Mary's Academy well into her eighties where she has been a teacher, Principle, and Head of the Guidance Department. She was also Principle and taught for many years at St. Xavier Academy and served two tours of duty at St. Catherine Academy in British Honduras. She became one of the nation's most dedicated proponents of the Boy Scout Explorer Program and founded The Community Classroom, a highly successful career education program in Rhode Island.
