Charles Swanson

~ Inducted 1987

Charles Swanson was considered Rhode Island's ambassador of tennis. He is rated among the best senior doubles players in the world.&nbsp;He won sixteen national tennis titles, and is recognized as the father of the Rhode Island tennis scene, teaching tennis professionals despite never having taken a lesson himself.&nbsp;He is credited with developing hundreds of young players and several of his pupils have become champions, including his daughter.&nbsp;He was chosen to represent the United States in the World Senior Championships in Europe the age of 73, and remained the New England Senior Doubles Champion for more than a decade.
